In The Community

At U. S. Postal Service FCU we pride ourselves in not only serving our members but making a difference in the communities we serve. With service being one of our shared values, we've embraced providing community outreach through scholarships for students, charitable contributions, volunteerism, and more.

Scholarship Program

The Credit Union offers an annual essay-based scholarship program, the Frederick J. Heinen Scholarship Contest, to our members. Winners receive between $500 and $1,000. See the Credit Union's Spring PostScripts for details.

Each year U. S. Postal Service Federal Credit Union participates in the CU Foundation's Credit Union Scholarship Program for college and trade school students. Members of the Credit Union entering their freshman through senior year may apply for one of ten $1,000 essay-based scholarships, one $1,000 photo-based scholarship, and/or one $1,000 video-based scholarship.

Adopt a Road

In 2011, the Credit Union adopted part of Malcolm Road in Clinton, MD. The stretch of road, which begins at the Comfort Inn and ends just before the Self Storage Facility is located beside the USPS FCU administrative offices. USPS FCU is committed to keeping the community they serve clean and hope to adopt all of Malcolm Road in the future. Each year, the Credit Union participates in an annual clean-up day that staff and their family participate in.

Cherry Blossom

The Credit Union participates in the annual Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run and 5k Run-Walk, sponsoring the blue corral for the race. The race serves as a fundraiser for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals.

California School Event

The Credit Union branch in California donated notebooks and pens to the students and faculty at Morningside Elementary School, where one of our members works.

Angel Tree

Since 2014, in memory of our beloved employee Rita Porter, each year the Credit Union participates in the Angel Tree Program that her church hosts, supporting local children that deserve to experience the joy of Christmas. The Credit Union is provided with the gift wishlist of a family of children and our staff donates gifts to this family.

Coat Drive

In 2021, the Credit Union participated in a coat drive in memory of our beloved employee Nichelle Garnett, at her church. Our staff and their families were able to donate a total of 45 items to the drive, helping provide individuals in need of adequate clothing for the winter months. We plan to do this each year in her memory.
